A Chinese Tea Ceremony, Homer Simpson, Come Fly with Me & So Much More | Vicky & Huni

Chinese Tea Ceremony Come Fly With Me – Bluffers Park – Homer Simpson – “I Beseech You”

What do the above things have in common? Well they were all things that could be seen/heard/witnessed/enjoyed at the wedding of Huni & Vicky on a beautiful October day.

Vicky & Huni’s day started with a traditional Chinese Tea ceremony, but before that could begin, Huni had to work to see his bride…when Huni approached the door, little did he know that he would be greeted by a sea of people, clamouring for him to sing a song about love.  It is funny that when put on the spot, as much as we all probably listen to music, every single song we know, escapes our mind.  As though we’d never heard of music, let alone love songs.  So when Vicky’s family, repeated again that Huni must sing a love song (***and loud) poor Huni started sweating.   Slowly but surely, Huni started to sing…

Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away
If you can use some exotic booze
There’s a bar in far Bombay
Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away

“HEY??!!!? Is this a love song??” Someone shouted from the hotel room we were in, listening to Huni sing for his love.  But patience is a virtue, and the words kept coming from Huni singing his Frank Sinatra tune…

Once I get you up there where the air is rarified
We’ll just glide, starry-eyed
Once I get you up there I’ll be holding you so near
You may hear angels cheer ’cause we’re together

Words of magic, as Huni was granted entrance!  But his time of winning his beloved’s heart was not over.  He was given a spitoon, and made to place it on his head…then the calling.  It was time for Huni to call out to Vicky.  Let’s just say his first attempt was an epic fail.  🙂  His 2nd attempt, soooooo much better.  “I beseech you dear Vicky, please come out”.  Lo and Behold, Vicky, on the arm of her father, entered the room and was greeted by a BIG smile on Huni’s face.  And this began the day that Vicky and Huni would pledge their love to each other in front of family and friends.

Everyone was in  good spirits, and mom even shared a few tips on how Vicky was to “handle” the spittoon and her new husband! I think I learned a thing or two myself!

Bluffers Park Wedding | Danielle & Ariel

Bluffers Park Wedding

Bluffers Park Restaurant wedding in Scarborough, that is  what Danielle & Ariel chose for their wedding backdrop.  With an incredible view of the Scarborough Bluff on one side, and the Scarborough marina filled with boats, birds and of course water on the other side.  Who could ask for a better location?  Danielle and Ariel were married under a Chuppah that Ariel’s father made from scratch, surrounded by his parents, her mom and aunt, they broke the glass at their feet to signify the start of a new and wonderful marriage.  We danced – Yes, I say we, because when the bride and groom get picked up for The Horah, you can’t help but dance around the swarm of people on the dance floor,  Everyone laughed, ate and admired the tea that her aunt’s brought from back home for everyone to take home and enjoy.  As Danielle joked, she’s not sure how her Aunt’s made it through customs without someone thinking they were starting an import/export business.  But they did.  And they looked so happy to be there to watch Danielle & Ariel pledge their love to each other.  Everything seemed to have a personal touch, right down to the center pieces filled with seashells from the beaches of Florida, where Ariel’s late grandmother used to travel before she passed walking the beaches collect shells.

    Hi Elaine,

I came across your photos of Danielle and Ariel’s wedding in the Scarborough Bluffs – they are beautiful!!!

We are getting married at the same venue and I am getting a little nervous about space. I was hoping you could ask Danielle or Ariel to see if they would be willing to email / have a call with me about some questions I had about the venue.

    That would be much appreciated!

    Thank you,
    Melissa

Baby Brooklyn – My Friends are Growing Up!

Toronto Newborn Photographer

So it would seem that my friends are growing up…getting married (sometimes even secretly), having babies, buying houses, renovating houses and the list goes on and on and on.   I feel like a proud “momma”.  I raised my friends proper! Ok, well I had nothing to do with it,  other then every once in a while throw them some sage advice that I’m sure went in one ear and out the other.  Cause well that’s what friends do.  We chat, we drink, we laugh, we share happy stories, horror stories, we advise and sometimes we just listen.  I have good friends.   So when my friends get married, I will most probably politely decline their invitation to photograph their wedding…cause really if I’m being invited to the wedding, I want to PARTY!  BUT when my friends have babies, I will most probably, politely beg for the chance to photograph their newborn.  And I don’t give up til they say YES!

So when I got the phone call from Justin that he and his wife Lisa were expecting, I incessantly nattered at him to let me photograph the baby girl when she arrived! So as good friends do for each other, Justin handed me over to the more capable hands of his wife Lisa who thankfully agreed! 🙂  And even though this baby girl made me work my butt off as most babies do (seriously Lisa, that’s the truth!), I hope I did her justice…cause really she is a DOLL!

Check out her room that daddy painted and mommy decorated:
