I am blessed. I love what I do and I get to meet really great people in my wedding adventures. Aneka & Durel got married this past weekend at the White Oaks Resort Spa – Niagara on the Lake. It was a special ceremony that included two wonderful pastors delivering powerful sermons and prayers. The most moving moment for me though came at the hands of the groom, Durel. Usually at the reception, I feel that tinge when the parents get to dance with their children. (Being a mother of two boys, this time of the evening always gets to me). On this night though it was something the groom said that really struck a chord with me. When Aneka and Durel stood up to address their guests and give thanks, Durel gave thanks to his parents for introducing him to God. I remember thinking in that moment that if my children one day give the same thanks to me, I will know that I have done my job and I will forever feel blessed. I was so grateful to have witnessed this thanks by a son to his parents and will remember it forever and I thank Durel and Aneka for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of their beautiful day.
On this gorgeous November day, Aneka and Durel pledged their unwavering love for each other, surrounded by their family, friends and most importantly God…
(On a side note: although one of Aneka’s sisters could not be at the wedding, she was terribly missed, so I hope this blog post finds her in Trinidad and she enjoys the photos as though she was there!)
